I am really sick and tired of filling out a complete PDF form and not being able to save it. The Federal Government can’t seem to afford to create forms that don’t require a license to Acrobat to fill out assuming there might be a kind of PDF that could be filled out and saved by users for free. I can print it out, but then if I decide there is a change that needs to be made, I have to start over from the beginning and type everything all back in manually, if I closed the browser or acrobat reader.

Everyone knows this is rediculous but why hasn’t an Adobe competitor put them to shame? Microsoft should come to the rescue. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help.

I think people are more interested in being able to make the PDF forms you see that are not setup as actual forms you can type in into a form with fields you can type in.

If you could take a PDF and make it the background of an InfoPath form, and then overlay the infopath form fields where the fields in the PDF are, you can make a usable solution to the problem. The point is there is no way to go back and fix one typo if you’ve closed your browser or Acrobat Reader.

In reply to Rohn’s post on March 12, What is the “underlay” technique? How would you explain that to a user? In reply to Don D in Tucson’s post on March 12, I found that when using the scanned form into a JPG and using that as the background image, I was able to insert it into Publisher to get the easiest way to fill out the form with the info I wanted.
