The snipping tool was a great addition to Windows Vista and remains so in Windows 7. It’s invaluable for getting a quick screenshots of a problem when friends/family are asking for help and for providing them with “how to” style help.

On my RD Servers win r2 the snipping tool is not there. I do have Desktop Experience checked. I cannot un-check and recheck this feature as it is grayed out. I don’t understand why people expect windows search to work. It didn’t function properly in Windows ’95, and it doesn’t function properly now. Do yourself a favor and download Everything. You can thank me later. But let not try to fix a issue and just download another tool or program.

Verify your account to enable IT peers to see that you are a professional. Windows Server expert. Sounds like the shortcut in the start menu either got deleted or never created. Search doesn’t search System32 for programs it searches the start menu locations for shortcuts.

I am able to search for Outlook for example I tried to search for another program in the same folder certmgr. When it did not work it was matter of re-indexing or enabling the service.
